The Crowd
The Crowd
The Crowd kicked the doors wide open for the Huntington Beach punk scene. Their songs on the seminal Beach Blvd compilation helped make it required listening for all OC punks, now and then. “Modern Machine,” which received heavy airplay on Rodney on the ROQ’s radio show, laid the framework for the now classic OC pop/punk sound. “Right Time” from their debut LP, A World Apart was featured on first Rodney on the ROQ compilation.
An early influence for bands such as TSOL, The Vandals, and many early HB bands, they continue to deliver their hard driving Buzzcocks from the beach sound. From the classic Letter Bomb CD, the Punk Off CD to their latest single, “No Other/Straight Down” on Hostage Records, the band remains the purveyor of their traditional HB sound.
The current line-up with Captain Jimmy “Trash” Decker (vocals), Jim Kaa (guitar), Dennis Walsh (drums), Jeff “Boz” Milucky (guitar), and Corey Stretz (bass) is unchanged since 2001. Decker and Kaa are founding members, Walsh joined in 1980 after leaving the Flyboys. Milucky (Youth Brigade, Curb, CK4) and Stretz (JFA, China White) are HB stalwarts that make the current line-up extremely potent.
The Pegs
The Pegs
Since their first action filled over-the-top live show in late 2002, THE PEGS consistently bring their brand of high energy and catchy punk rock to venues throughout the Southern California club circuit. With their musical inspiration rooted firmly in the rich tradition of original Orange County and L.A. Punk bands from the late 70’s and early 80’s, THE PEGS put their twist on it, turn it inside out, and make their own unique sound. They have released a steady stream of 7-inch records on well respected independent labels like RAPID PULSE and NO FRONT TEETH RECORDS, and have received positive reviews and praise from RAZORCAKE and MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL fanzines etc. THE PEGS charismatic stage presence, good sense of humor, work ethic, and approachability make them a favorite of music fans new and old.
